CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT
Amiantit is committed to the principles of environmental sustainability, product stewardship and to the well-being of our people, customers and local communities.
We have European facilities certified to ISO 14001 and UNE EN ISO 9001:00 in addition to local and international regulatory requirements. AMIANTIT is closely working with the world’s most influential standardisation organisations, including the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the Committee for European Standardisation (CEN). We have completed carbon footprint studies according to ISO14044 and actively participate in the relevant environmental work groups of Europe.
FLOWTITE. THE BEST SOLUTION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
FLOWTITE PIPES HAVE A LOW CARBON FOOTPRINT
Independent studies show that Flowtite pipes have a low carbon footprint compared with competing materials. This is valid for both cradle-to-gate and cradle-to-grave analyses.
An independent study conducted at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in 2012 concludes that Flowtite pipes have a minimal negative environmental impact compared to other pipe materials. The main reason is the highly efficient way the material components are engineered to work together.
Flowtite pipes have a very high performance to weight advantage. Additionally they can be nested during transport. These benefits offer our customers the lowest carbon emissions from pipe transport.
The smooth bore and outstanding flow characteristics of Flowtite pipes reduce the amount of energy used for pumping. In penstocks, this increases the energy outtake!
Flowtite pipes are recyclable. For example, the Federation of Reinforced Plastics in Germany recommends that GRP pipes are recycled into cement.
LOW ENERGY PRODUCTION
The amount of energy used in the production of Flowtite pipes is less than is required for most other pipe materials.
A full, 3rd party verified, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) has been conducted on Flowtite Pipes according to ISO 14040. This information and an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) are available on request.
